Beech Creek United Methodist Church
was constituted in 1954, but actually
came into being as a result of the
courageous work of three women, from
1937 – 1954, to establish Sunday Schools
in this area. Beech Creek was a EUB
Church until the 1968 merger of the EUB
and Methodist church.

Bert Combs Lake, a body of water that provides water for most of the residents of Clay County, is also an inspiring place to worship! The Beech Creek congregation meets at the lake on the last Sunday evening of August each year for a "Galilean Service." The people sit on the shore beside the water, while the speaker preaches from a boat on the lake. As He did in Biblical times, Christ meets His people at the lake.
After the Service, a bonfire is built, and people enjoy roasting hot gods and marshmallows over the fire. Supper in enjoyed by everyone and a wonderful experience of warm fellowship, until darkness spreads over the land and water.
