About our church...
Beech Fork United Methodist Church is
located in Leslie County Kentucky.
It
began in 1928 as a school and worship
center of Red Bird Mission. Today the
church and parsonage are
built on the
same property, adjacent
to US 421.
Transforming lives...transforming communities...
There has been an elementary school next door that was operated by the County for years. This was an out growth of the early mission school. Last year it was closed. The community is pulling together to try and obtain the building to use as a community center.
Many members here at Beech Fork have been and are hard working people. Some are professionals while others are on welfare or disability. It is a difficult area to find work and many have to leave the area for more prosperous places. Some of the “pillars” of the church have been former missionaries or retired school teachers from the area, who are very dedicated to the life of the church, community, and the Red Bird Missionary Conference.
There is a tremendous problem of drug and alcohol abuse in this area, as in the other nine counties of Red Bird Missionary Conference nevertheless, many persons are exploring their faith and searching for ways to live the Christian life. In addition to experiencing the transforming power of Christ in our lives, youth, children and education are a very big part of this church.
