Reed and Barbara Brock were born and raised
here in the mountains of southeastern Kentucky.
Reed graduated from Leslie County High School
and started to work in the coal mines, which he
did for ten years.
Barbara’s parents, George and Donna Surface,
were missionaries for 31 years in the Red Bird
Missionary Conference. Barbara graduated from
Red Bird High School and went on to cosmetology
school.
Prior to his call for ministry, Reed and Barbara managed their own business.
In 1996, Reed responded to God’s call to full time ministry and became a student in the Appalachian Local Pastor’s School. He has been serving the Annville United Methodist Churches in the Red Bird Missionary Conference.
Reed states: “Being from the area and understanding more the traditions, I feel I have an opportunity to bring people to an understanding of what being disciples for Christ is”.
The Brocks have two sons – Johnathan and Jeremy.
