About our church
The Clifty United Methodist church was chartered in 1891. The congregation still worships in the original building that was constructed the same year, although a fellowship hall was added in 2002. Clifty became a part of the Red Bird Missionary Conference in 1974 when it requested to be transferred from the Kentucky Annual Conference.

Transforming lives...transforming communities...
The Clifty congregation has almost literally "come back from the dead." Several years ago, its active membership was down to one person. Mildred and the pastor (Jamie Brunk) would meet for Sunday School and worship in the mid-afternoon on Sundays... as had been the tradition for decades. A decision was made to move Sunday School and worship to the evening, and after proper prayer and preparation, the new format was launched. God has blessed, and in the last several years there have been a number of baptisms and folks to join the church, and the average attendance is now between 15-20.

Also the congregation built a new fellowship hall to go along with the original sanctuary building in which they worship, which was constructed in 1891. It was built mainly by local and volunteer labor, and was dedicated debt-free in 2002. The big deal is that there are two "flush toilet" bathrooms in the fellowship hall, in contrast to the outhouses that served the church for over a century.
