About the church
The Joy Center was the result of a local woman's concern for children in a community where there was no organized, regular Sunday School. She and missionary staff traveled nearly twenty miles weekly to hold Sunday School in a one-room schoolhouse. It soon became evident that someone needed to live in the community to provide ministry to families throughout the week.

The former Big Creek School, a two room building, was secured and remodeled to be the home for this new ministry in 1980. Families became involved. After-school activities and worship services were added.

The Joy Center is a center for a wide range of activities with the central emphasis on spiritual development. We continue to pray that God will send us the least, the last, and the lost.
