Building a Solid Foundation
Rev. Steven Riddle and his wife Jeannine came here from Florida to serve last spring. They immediately began visiting
the community and building relationships. One such friendship began between a woman named Henrietta and Jeannine.
Henrietta began to attend the Beverly United Methodist Church. She got very involved and subsequently gave her life
to Christ. She then began working extensively with the children and youth. Henrietta wanted to be baptized, however
some health issues kept her from being able to be immersed in the frigid January creek. Although, she wanted to be
immersed, she settled to be sprinkled instead.
The morning of her baptism came and the pastor began the baptism liturgy. The moment he touched her forehead with the
water, the clouds opened up and an enormous downpour fell from the sky. The rain came so loud and so suddenly, it caused
many people to jump. Only a God who cares about the infinite details of our lives, could orchestrate an "immersion" of
showers at the exact same moment Henrietta was baptized. God knew the desires of her heart, and blessed her
with a miracle.
These are the moments that we know that God is still very much alive and there is so much more ministry that needs to
take place here in southeastern Kentucky. God is still the God of miracles and unexpected blessings, if we are faithful
to Him. However, in the Red Bird Missionary Conference, that faithfulness reaches beyond our borders and requires the
faithfulness of people all across the United States.
We are working to fill a pledge board with "bricks" of supporters to ensure a solid foundation for the Red Bird
Missionary Conference. We need 2500 individuals, couples or groups, to pledge to send $25 a month for a year.
We are already well on our way, but we still need others to join us. With this small commitment of support we will
be able to ensure that the ministry, taking place here is able to go on and people like Henrietta will have the
opportunity to encounter our God, a God who cares infinitely about the details of our lives.
Welcome to Red Bird Missionary Conference
Welcome to the Red Bird Missionary Conference, Inc. Web Site
So let's begin... What is Red Bird Missionary Conference?
The Red Bird Missionary Conference is one of three missionary conferences in the United States,
the other two are: Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference and Alaska Missionary Conference.
A missionary conference serves in an area where local resources cannot meet the needs;
therefore mission support from the whole Church is necessary.
Red Bird Missionary Conference is located
in the Southeastern Kentucky. It is the most comprehensive mission effort of The United Methodist
Church in the United States, providing outreach and services that minister to the whole
person (spiritual, physical, social, and economic).
1 John 5:3: "This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commandments."
Churches or Individuals can give Wings to ministry in Southeastern Kentucky.
HOW DO WE LIVE THE GREAT COMMISSION
IN THIS ECONOMY?
Wings for Red Bird was specially designed to give individuals, and congregations small and large, a flexible, affordable way
to continue sharing the love of God through ministries in the mountains of Southeastern Kentucky.

Changes in Associates in Mission (AIMS) Giving and the Advance
The Red Bird Missionary Conference wants to express our heartfelt thanks for your extremely valued support. Only with your support are we able
to do ministry here in the Appalachian hills of Eastern Kentucky. With our conference area being a part of some of the lowest economic areas
of Kentucky and the whole United States, support and help from people and groups like you are vital to our work.
As you are aware there are changes on the horizon with the General Board of Global Ministries and the Women's Division (Soon to be the United
Methodist Women Inc.). A portion of the changes in structure have to do with the available personnel in our General Church offices, especially
GBGM. The division of Advance Special Giving will be changing how they operate by giving each institution under their direction a single
Advance Number (Red Bird Churches and Outreaches #773978) and will no longer give/have numbers for individual missionaries out in the field
of service. Therefore in order that our pastors and missionaries are receiving credit for support given in their name we are making changes
and we are asking for your help in this effort.
Our pastors and missionaries will be given a new number from the Red Bird Missionary Conference Financial office, those number can be found
on the church & outreach page as well as the pastors and church workers webpages. We ask that you put on your checks and communication.
We are asking that all funding now be sent DIRECTLY TO THE RED BIRD MISSIONARY CONFERENCE and checks made to the same or to RBMC. They should be
mailed to: 54 Queendale Center Beverly, KY 40913
If your gift is to support someone specifically, please include the Missionary Number and name of whom you are supporting. Undesignated giving
to the Mission and Outreach of the RBMC is always appreciated as we try to help all our churches in various ways.
"COVENANT RELATIONSHIPS" will still be available as we already handle those directly through our office. These are groups or individuals who
covenant to give $2500 or more through a year. The Red Bird Missionary Conference will acknowledge your gift and continue to provide banners
and buttons for Covenant Relationships for organizations to display. We also offer the "WINGS FOR RED BIRD" plaque for those who give $1000
within twelve months.
We want to assure that your gift is very much appreciated and is responsibly used to further the Kingdom of God. In these tough economic times
we acknowledge that we can only do God's work here because of your support. If you have any questions or would like more information or someone
to come and share with your church, District or Conference, please contact us.
