Luke 10:26-28 “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?” He answered: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.”
These words of Scripture came to life on a Sunday morning during our worship service. A prayer request was lifted up about a man in our community who had just come home from the hospital and was unable to get around. We decided to pray for this man and his wife, who was not able to stand for any length of time and was trying to care for him. Later in the service, during the sermon on “Acts of Mercy”, several in our congregation spoke up about reaching out to this family in need. It was an amazing experience that morning. By the time our service was over, members of the congregation had organized meals for each day of the week and a few were going over to clean their home. God was truly at work and so were his children.
