About our church...
Middle Fork United Methodist Church was
chartered in 1945. It was originally an
Evangelical United Brethren Church.
During its 60 years of existence it has
had the pulpit filled by Red Bird Missionary Conference pastors.
Transforming lives...transforming communities...
Middle Fork, located in south Leslie County, Kentucky, is one of the more isolated areas in the conference.
It is a community of mountain homes located twenty miles from the nearest town. Working residents must drive out to their jobs. Local persons are hard working people but employment options are limited. For the most part it is a community of low income families.
Church activities are important for local children and youth since schools are at a distance. Though there are problems of drug and alcohol abuse, people are finding the Lord and are growing in their faith. Middle Fork is a family church and community and all pull together to keep the work of the Lord going on.
Two local men from this church have been called to preach and pastor, and are now serving Red Bird Missionary Conference Churches! Reed Brock is one of those men. Reed was born and grew up on Middle Fork, was saved in the Middle Fork United Methodist Church, received course of study training through the Appalachian Local Pastors School, and now enjoys being the pastor of Middle Fork UMC and Beech Fork UMC.
