Pastor

Rev. Dan Griffiths is the pastor of the Middle Fork and Beech Fork United Methodist Churches. Dan came to the Red Bird Missionary Conference in 1998 after serving churches in former Louisville Annual Conference (now merged with the Kentucky Annual Conference). Dan graduated with a Human Services Degree in the first 4yr. class from Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, KY. He holds a Master of Divinity degree from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, KY.

Dan is involved in many parts of the Red Bird Missionary Conference including the Conference Council on Finance and Administration.

Red Bird Missionary Conference churches are all small membership. However, pastors minister to many more than their members, they become the pastor to the entire community. Many of the area children call him "Dan, Dan the Preacher Man."

Prior to entering the ministry in 1985 Dan was a firefighter for the federal government. Two brothers, 4 & 5, began calling him "Dan, Dan the Fireman". When they heard he was going to become a pastor, they christened him "Dan, Dan the Preacher Man".

Dan sees his ministry in Appalachia as "equipping the saints for the works of ministry." He feels passionate about his call to serve here because of the physical and spiritual needs of the folks and God's ability to meet those needs.

He recalls his most memorable moment as driving up KY 66 toward Queendale and seeing the mountains, the trees, and nature. "I love the Red Bird Missionary Conference and the people that live here. Both those that have been born here and those that are outsiders."
