Pastor

Reed and Barbara Brock serve at the Annville United Methodist Church. Reed went to Emory and through the Appalachians Local Pastors School (ALPS). They have two sons. Johnathan is married to Joy (Sturgill) Brock and they have one son Jayden with another boy, Jace, expected to arrive in March. Johnathan and Joy both work as nurses. Jeremy is engaged to Rachael and both of them currently work in Berea.

Both Reed and Barbara were born and raised here. Barbara's parents were missionaries here at Red Bird for 33 years and Barbara was born here at Red Bird. Reed's family is from Middlefork, where they still reside. Reed and Barb have been married 37 years, working here at the Red Bird Missionary Conference for 14 years this coming June.

When asked about their call to serve here, Reed and Barbara stated, "We were both raised here in the area and being called to serve here. I feel I have a good understanding of mountain traditions, which give me an opportunity to help bring people to an understanding of what being disciples for Christ really is. This is a very satisfying life." They both agree that they struggle frequently with wanting to do more they have the time or the resources to accomplish.

They believe their passion remains because the are from the area and love the people. They feel that the most rewarding experience here is seeing people come to the Lord and grow spiritually. They love the Red Bird Missionary Conference because this is where they met. "Red Bird has always been a part of my life starting with Sunday School as a child."
