Rev. Robert & Charlene Gross
Pastor
Robert and Sharlene Gross serve at the Stoney Fork church. Robert is a member of the Red Bird Missionary Conference. He is 1976 grad of Clay County High. He also has a year of welding school. Sharlene is a grad of Leslie County High. She is currently a housewife and also Robert's right hand in serving in the ministry.

Robert ended up in the Red Bird Conference via his wife being a life long member of the Middle Fork UMC. He was initially raised in the Baptist faith but as a young teen he attended Beech Creek UMC while Rev. Don Penner was Pastor there. Robert says, "From the time I was young the Lord kept tugging at me to enter the ministry sometimes we don't always listen to what is best for us. I renewed my vows with the Lord and it wasn't long until people were telling me they felt like that I was called to preach. However, I had never mentioned to them that God had dealt with me when I was younger. I prayed for guidance from the Lord and made a vow to him that if He wanted me, then if He would open doors for me, I would step through for Him. Five years later I'm the Pastor here at Stoney Fork."

He believes that is a testimony for him. "If we make ourselves available to God's will he'll take us places we've never dreamed we would go. I love the ministry and I love serving at Red Bird. I feel as though they are showing the love of Jesus. They believed in me just as Jesus believes in all of us if we would only believe in Him." Robert's biggest struggle in the ministry has been hoping he could get the whole world saved and adjusting to the needs of the people. "My hope is that I can reach as many people as I can, and if there is anyone reading this that needs a church, my hope is that they would give Stoney Fork the opportunity to be their home church."
