Mike was appointed to the Hope United Methodist Church in Frakes, Kentucky starting on July 1st, 2006. He received his call to ministry while a high school student in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Mike attended Olivet Nazarene University and Nazarene Theological Seminary while he as a member of the Church of the Nazarene. Mike graduated from St. Paul School of Theology after returning to his United Methodist roots. He received a Doctor of Ministry degree in 2003 from North Park Theological Seminary.
Mike served as an associate pastor of two city churches in Indiana. He also served as the pastor of a rural church and a small town church in Michigan. During 2005 Mike felt God calling him to some type of mission work close to the poor. His search for God's direction led him to the Red Bird Missionary Conference.
Mike is working on building up the Hope UMC. Ten new members joined this small church of 25 members in his first six months. He is also involved with many ministries at the Henderson Settlement on a volunteer basis.
Lori is enthusiastic about living and serving in Appalachia. Lori has been a special education teacher for seventeen years. She loves to write about her experience in the classroom. Lori is presently teaching first grade at the Frakes Elementary School.
